[net.cooks] Special K Bars

Although I am noted in my family for not being excessively fond of
sweet things (I prefer carrots and the like for my random munchies),
there are few things that I won't pass up for these.

			SPECIAL K BARS

1/2 C  light Karo syrup
1/2 C  white sugar
3/4 C  chunky peanut butter
4 C    Special K cereal
6 oz.  chocolate chips
6 oz.  butterscotch chips

Bring the Karo and sugar to a boil in a saucepan, stirring frequently.
Reduce heat, add peanut butter, and stir until peanut butter is
thoroughly mixed and smooth.  Pour this over Special K cereal in a
large bowl and mix thoroughly.  Spread this in a 9 x 13 pan.

Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips together in another saucepan, and
spread them over the bars like icing.  Let cool and cut into squares.

 -- It is *not* necessary to refrigerate these.

 -- Cutting them into squares is probably easiest after the chocolate has
    begun to set, but before they have completely cooled.

 -- Keep covered to prevent drying out.
