[comp.sources.wanted] Wanted: way to do graphics on VR241 monitor under Pro/VENIX

ado@elsie.UUCP (Arthur David Olson) (11/27/87)

A colleague here at NIH has a DECPRO 350 system with a VR241 (Color Pro)
monitor.  They're using "cu" and "kermit" to access remote systems;
when they do so, they're unable to use the graphics capabilities of the monitor.
(One system can only send REGIS commands down the line; another sends 4014
commands down the line; neither set of commands does the right thing when cu
or kermit is running.)
What they'd like is any one of the following:

	1. a way to do graphics when using cu or kermit (undocumented
	    features, anyone?)
	2. a terminal emulation program that runs under ProVENIX
	    and provides graphics capabilities;
	3. a way to use the REGIS terminal emulator (Pro Communications)
	    that comes with P/OS under ProVENIX
	4. a program that could be used under ProVENIX to read REGIS-
	    format graphics commands from a disk file and do the right
	    stuff on the VR241.
	5. (least favored). One possibility is to hook up the VT241
	    that can handle REGIS-format commands to a serial port;
	    folks could then log on to REGIS-savvy remote systems from
	    this terminal to do their work. Unfortunately, the PROVENIX
	    version of "plot" they're running (2.0) doesn't have a filter
	    for REGIS terminals. So to get the best use out of the terminal,
	    they'd need a REGIS filter for plot.

If you have information on how the job can be done (or need more details on
what the problem is), I'd appreciate hearing from you by electronic mail;
I'll forward any replies.
