			   Golden Carrot Slices


       Ingredients:


	 1.  2 lbs scraped carrots (sliced cross-wise)

	 2.  1 med onion sliced	thin

	 3.  1 med green pepper	sliced thin (optional)

	 4.  1 can condensed tomatoe soup

	 5.  1/2 cup sugar

	 6.  2/3 cup vinegar (I	use wine vinegar, but can use white
	     vinegar)

	 7.  1/2 cup salad oil

	 8.  1 t dry mustard ( can use jar mustard)

       Directions: Cook	carrots	until tender in	salt water (about
       10 minutes) Drain and cool carrots.  Put	carrots, onions,
       and peppers in layers in	1 1/2 qt casserole.  Mix sugar,
       vinegar,	oil and	mustard	and pour over carrots.	Add tomato
       soup, cover dish	and leave in refrigerator.  This will keep
       at least	a week if kept in the refrigerator. Goes great with
       any summer food and especially good and different for
       barbecue.


	  Old Fashioned	Cabbage	Salad (alternative to cole slaw)


       Ingredients:


	 1.  1 t salt

	 2.  1/4 t pepper

	 3.  1/2 t dry mustard

	 4.  1/2 t celery seed

	 5.  2 T sugar

	 6.  1/2 c chopped green pepper

	 7.  1 T chopped pimento

	 8.  1 t instant minced	onion (or 1 T real)

	 9.  3 T salad oil

	10.  1/3 c white vinegar

	11.  4 cups finely shredded or chopped cabbage (about 1/2
	     medium head)


       Directions: In a	large bowl, place all ingredients in order
       listed; mix well.  Cover; refrigerate at	least 3	hours. Just
       before serving, drain cabbage.  If desired, garnish with
       watercress and sliced pimento-stuffed olives.
