As most of you are aware, I have been posting a series of recipes to the net over the past few months. These recipes were originally set up for phototypesetting and included controls that generate nice symbols for 1/2, 1/3, and the like. I have not changed these, but when the recipes are formatted for the net, nroff is not smart enough to put a space around them. So measurements like 2 1/2 cups come out looking like 21/2 cups. I hope that nobody has done anything too extravagant because of these unusual measurements; they are always understandable from context (and a little thought will give you an unambiguous way to parse them).
