[comp.sources.wanted] childrens games

roland@umecs.UUCP (Roland Hedberg) (12/30/87)

Some time ago there were someone out there who sent out a packet of
educational games for children, for different reasons I have lost my copy.
Unfortunally I have also lost the name of the packet.

So could someone please send me a copy.

Also ,if someone knows of any other PD games suitable for a child at
the age of 6 , I would welcome does too .

Please answer by email .

This seems to be starting a real go around. Well here is my 17 and 3/4
cents worth, what with inflation!

Add me to the list. I would like to start collecting games for
children age one and up. We have quite a few children up here in a
close knit group that seem to be very interested in computers and there
seems to be an interest among some parents and educators to provide
whatever learning experiences we can to our kids.

Let's stop saying me too and get some of these things passed around or
leads on where to go get them.

Well after looking over some of the educational software that is available
commercially I am begining to think the only way I am going to get good
software for my kids is to write it myself. Very few companies use anything
better than CGA graphics and the animation also leaves something to be desired.
The other problem I have with the commercial packages is copy protection. The
first package I bought wouldn't even run on my Zenith 286, insisting that the
key disk was not in drive A. This was "Early Games" by Spingbd. The package
that I ended up with was "Kinder Comp" by Spinnaker. I don't like its graphics
and it will only run off the floppy. The thing I hate most is the fact that
you must turn off the computer to exit the game. These people have never heard
of a hard disk I guess. My kids (2 and 5) would rather draw with DrHalo any
day. Now if only I had the time to write the games I have in mind.

Please add me to the list,

HI....

Well, I just read seven articles asking for the same thing...a series
of educational games for kids. Sorry to say, I don't have that series,
either, and would have liked it. But I do have a few games that I have
gotten from boards that are good for kids (a couple even educational).
I'm sure lots of others on this system have their own collections.
So why don't we all post our favorites for each other?

I'm new to Usenet, and don't really know where the best place to post
would be....here, or in binaries? I'll wait till I get some feedback
on this.
