A while back, someone mentioned that they had a window manager for UNIX that was similar to the "screen" package that was posed last year, but allowed such things as talks to come through to a window. If anyone has access to this, I would most appreciate getting a copy. I think it had a fairly high functionality, but all I really need is something that will allow me multiple full screen windows, that are efficent, non-blocking, and will allow talk requests to come through. How about ``screen''? Its current version does allow ``talk requests to
come through'', if being able to initiate and answer talk requests is what
this phrase means. The initial version did not update /etc/utmp (and thus
avoided some non-portabilities), but Oliver Laumann upgraded it later on
(providing different #ifdefs for 4.2BSD and 4.3BSD). If I'm not totally
mistaken, this patch was published in comp.sources.unix about a month after
the original version.
