[comp.sources.wanted] source for SampleC

scwilk@sdrc.UUCP (Ken Wilkinson) (03/09/88)

It is mentioned in the book "Introduction to compiler construction
with Unix" Axel T. Schreiner and H. George Friedman Jr.
Prentix Hall (big blue book ok?)

That the sources are available for the examples. I'm interested
in finding the sources for each of the examples in the book.
can anyone help? It is also mentioned that the author HG Friedman
is a USENET reader. Anyone know how to reach him?

  Please reply to:

  Standard disclaimer etc.
"Sure its shareware; just send me $1000 if you like it ok?"

I'll respond to the net, since I get this query from time to time,
in case anyone else may be looking for me, too.

I'd be pleased to send a copy of the files described in the Compiler
Construction book to any interested reader of the book. The two easiest
methods are by mag tape, or by using "ftp" if it is available to you.
You can send a tape to:

Prof. H. George Friedman, Jr.
Computer Science Dept.
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
1304 W. Springfield (The Post Office insists on this line)
Urbana, IL 61801

Return postage for the tape would be appreciated, but is not required.

If you prefer something other than tar format at 1600 cpi, please let me know.

With "ftp", it is easy. If you can login to our machine (a.cs.uiuc.edu,
formerly known as uiucdcs), in the ftp home directory, pub/friedman is a
subdirectory, from which you can copy out files "tar" and "tar.out". File
tar is a tar output file, and tar.out is the listing of what is in file tar.
