[comp.sources.wanted] X.25 or multiplexer software

zeeff@b-tech.UUCP (Jon Zeeff) (03/14/88)

I'm interested in connecting a Sys III unix machine to an X.25 line
with the unix machine acting as a host for several users. Preferably,
the unix machine would be connected directly to the X.25 line
by installing the right software on it.

If this is not possible, a low cost PAD might be ok.

Any recommendations on the software (perferably free) or low cost
hardware to do this?

What problems might I expect in terms of flow control, 8 bit transparency,
modem control signals (is there an equivalent to dropping dtr on a dial-up
line?), etc.

On a different topic, is there any PD multiplexer software out there -
I have a single 9600 bps line connecting 2 unix machines that I would
like to make look like 4 2400 bps lines (ie support 4 users running cu
to the other system). Again, flow and modem control are concerns.
Using a slip link and telnet is probably not an option on the Sys III
machine (no tcp/ip support).

Thanks.
