Some time back, "netlib" control at anl-mcs understandably
got mad at me ( does this apply if it is a computer? ) for moving too
many bytes over the phone lines. For those not familiar with the
"netlib" service, I have been trying to acquire a local collection of
public domain math/stat packages for the users I support through their
kind service. My users can't justify the purchase of expensive commercial
packages ( private research or class work ), so I get what free software
I can. Our uucp interface to "netlib" is too slow and I would prefer to keep
a complete set of "netlib" material locally for a number of reasons
including Fortran to C conversions.
The Question: Does anyone have anonymous ftp access to "netlib" material?
If you do, or if you know of an alternative LAN solution, please
E-mail to brian@hpcvlx.
