[net.cooks] Some statistics about this newsgroup

cjy (10/22/82)

I have been reading and contributing to this newsgroup for nine
or ten months. In that time I have collected ( on paper, not on
line - sigh ) a lot of really great stuff. Some of it I have tried
on my family and some of it I cook when, for some reason, I have to
cook for myself ( My wife and kids dont like lots of garlic and hot
stuff, but I do. ) Perhaps everyone might be interested in some statistics
of the type of recipes that have appeared here. The following categories
were created "on the wing". That is to say if a recipe came in that
didn't fit an established category, it got put in misc. When enough
( two or more ) recipes of the same category were placed there, I would
create a new category. This, then, is the sum of my recipe
collecting........

CATEGORY NUMBER COLLECTED

Meat----------------------------35
Appetizer-----------------------9
Salad---------------------------5
Eggs----------------------------7
Pancakes, Waffles---------------5
Soup----------------------------8
Fish, Seafood-------------------6
Cakes, Pies---------------------38

To the best of my ability, none of the above are duplicates.
While you may argue that a particular category may or may not be descriptive,
all that is necessary is that I be able to find recipes when I want to.
I'm not really sure what the heck this all proves, but its really evident
that the thing that people most want to share is yummy deserts,
sweets, and meat recipes.
