In response to Carl Blesch's article, I thought I would tell everyone near the Indian Hill Complex where to get fresh nutmeg, other spices, and cooking ingredients. The place is called the Home Economist and they have a number of locations. The closest one to Indian Hill is located on Finley Road north of Butterfield. They carry various flours, spices, teas, candies, dried and candied fruits, powdered soups, gelatin and flavored drink mixes, nuts, and the best popcorn EVER! To get there from I.H. take Naperville Rd. north to Butterfield Rd. ( Route 56 ). Take 56 east to Finley Rd. and turn North on Finley ( just before the plaza with the Courtesy Home Center ). Take Finley North until you get to the first stop sign. You are facing a small plaza with a racquet ball club at one end. At the other end of the plaza, you will find the Home Economist. Oh yeah, for all you that live in the Downers Grove, Darien, Westmont area, there is another store near 63rd and Cass in the same mall as DiCola's ( great place to get fish and seafood - if you can afford to eat that stuff ). One more thing, for all you displaced easterners at I.H. the Home Economist is a great place to get various varieties of bagels, baileys, and cream cheese so one can go noshing at noontime.......
