Re: Greent tomatos -- yes, it does work to wrap each tomato
in newsprint and put them in a cool, dry place.  Not as good
as vine-ripened tomatos, but much better than the grocery variety.

Re: "live" (or perhaps real is a better word) pumpkin:
I tried making a real pumpkin pie once using a regular recipe --
the filling turned out too watery, and I didn't have much
luck filtering out the pumpkin fibers.  The fibers don't
hurt the pie, however.  Hope others have had better luck
at this endeavor.
