GREEN TOMATO CHUTNEY This is my recipe for making green tomato chutney. Ingredients 2 lb tomatoes (cut into quarters) 1 tablespoon mustard seed 1 tablespoon cumin seed 6 cayenne peppers 1 tablespoon salt In a frying pan, put 2 tablespoons of oil and heat. Add mustard seed, cumin seed and, peppers. The mustard seed will start to crackle when the oil is hot. Leave two peppers and remove the rest and keep them on a dry plate. Add the tomatoes and salt (whatever you think is enough). Let the tomatoes roast. Do not add water. When the tomatoes are cooked, take it off the stove and let it cool. Put the cooled tomatoes in the blender and blend. Actually, a food processor is better as it does not make a paste. Taste. If it is not hot enough add more of the peppers that you kept aside. The idea is to make it as hot as you like. This will make a great dip for pita bread.
