[comp.sources.wanted] TeX for the 3b1

mark@jhereg.Jhereg.MN.ORG (Mark H. Colburn) (05/26/88)

A while back, someone was offering a complete version of TeX which had
been ported to the 3b1. If my memory serves, this included a
previewer and a bunch of printers supported, including Epsons,
Imagewriters, etc. I would be grateful for any information about
this.

OKAY! SOUNDS GREAT! But what is TeX? What's it do better than
anything else? Is it a fast food? Does it support 24-pin printers
and is it better than emacs and vi and nroff? BIG THANKS to the
first 23 people that make me an informed netnews reader and hacker!

Me too! In particular i need examples of drivers which utilize the
"gf" format files.

carl@juniper.uucp (Carl Gustav Johnson) (07/06/88)

I forgot who I got it from from, but it is, I'm told, public domain.
It works fair for previewing. Doesn't have any kind of dot matrix
support that I have found. (Any one got dvi to dotmatrix gidget?)
I don't have time to make copies of all 12 discs for all that want it, but
if the person who asked for it and voluntered to allow anyone to log in
and get it would send me 12 discs (formated please) I will make a
set and return them. Return postage enclosed would be appreciated.
I'm in my last semester of school and am quite broke having gotten
this computer!
