[comp.sources.wanted] What happened to FIDO?

cuddy@convex.UUCP (07/14/88)

A few years ago I was a sysop for a FIDO board. My PeeCeee
then went away and I stopped running the board. I would
like to know if anybody knows the status of FIDO. Did
the author write a new version (past 11w?), Does it still
exist? Is it commercial? I heard a rumor to the effect that
he (they, fido software), was going to start SELLING the program.
What's the deal?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Fido version 12 is out, and is commercial. Around here, everybody is
running Opus 1.03b. Elsewhere, people are running quickbbs. A few people
are running tbbs and love it, but it's also strictly commercial (the
multiline version costs nearly a thousand bucks, last I heard). There
are probably lots of other things around, but these seem to be the main
ones active on fidonet these days.
