I've had several replies to my news item about making your own peanut butter. There was general agreement that refrigeration is not needed, although one person observed that it does slow down the separation of oil from solids. Peanut butter (homemade or commercial) will spoil *eventually* - the oil goes rancid - but if you are interested enough in the stuff to make it yourself, it's unlikely to last that long.
