Needed: a formated 'ls' utility, that can generate output suitable for use by 'awk' etc. What I have in mind is some formatting capability such as used by sysV's 'date', which, for example, will generate the same output of 'ls -l' by something like: fls '%M %2l %u %g %6s %T %n' -- Amos Shapir amos@nsc.com National Semiconductor (Israel) 6 Maskit st.
