In response to the request for Scandanavian appetizers, I would like to suggest SmOrbrOd. ( the O is pronounced like a long o and has a slash through it. ) Litterally translated, it means bread and butter. Typically, a thinly sliced substantial bread like pumpernikle is served on a tray with a dish of softened sweet butter. Various sliced meats, fish, and cheeses are also served along with various condiments such as salt, pepper, mustard, sliced egg, mayonaise (sp?), etc. A Dane will take the bread, spread it with butter ( or other condiment ), and add the meat, fish, or cheese of their choice and eat. My favorite sandwich is bread butter, mayo, small shrimp, and a generous sprinkle of dill weed. Enjoy! Chuck Young at ihuxi!cjy
