Our company needs a general purpose report writer and we want to make a make or buy decision within two months. Can anyone out there help us with information about public domain report writers (if there are any) or commercial available products ? Ideally, the report writer we want must support the following features, o User can create report definitions in a WYSIWYG fashion. o Must run in various hardware/software environments (e.g. VAX/VMS, Unix, OS/2, Stratus/VOS). o User interface supports both 'dumb' (e.g. VTxxx type) terminals and workstations. o Is open ended, i.e. does not rely on a particular database or file system. Interfaces to new file systems or databases can be easily added. We must at least be able to add an interface to our own database structure.
