[net.cooks] Adapting Conventional Recipes to Microwaves

jlh (12/14/82)

I, too, have owned a microwave oven for <= 1 year. While I have mainly
used it to reheat leftovers, heat canned soups and frozen veggies, etc.,
I have made several yummy dishes in it. Two that I recall right off hand
were 1) a hamburger pie with potatoes, onions, etc. and 2) Coquille St.
Jacques with bay scallops, mushrooms, fontina cheese and other goodies.

About the adaptation of conventional recipes to microwaves: i own
(I mean "I own") a cookbook published by the Litton Corporation
devoted entirely to this subject. I regret to report that I haven't
had time to use it, however. Of course, the book always states that
you set your "Litton Microwave" to x minutes on y setting, but I think
it could be used with about any oven.

P. S. I would be happy to post either of the above recipes if anyone
       showed interest.
