HP-UX has a very nice tool called ct(1): it's like tip in reverse. ct calls the specified number, and spawns a getty() for that line. This covers at least some of the concerns for security against unauthorized dialins (mostly 'cause there aren't any this way). Only one problem: I know of this tool's existence on HP-UX 6.2; it doesn't appear anywhere on SunOS4.0, and therefore becomes exceedingly difficult to use from my Sun 3/60 :-). Does anyone know of a public-domain version of this program (or a workalike)? I'm keen enough to try writing it myself, but I won't bother if someone else has already built it and got it working... Thanks for your time... ---tpc--- -- I am sole owner of the above opinions.
