We are about to purchase an Epson DFX-5000 printer. This is their heavy-duty, high-speed model, and we intend to use it primarily as a fast line printer - doing straight ASCII text. Of course the printer has a lot of abilities beyond that, so I would like some advice on printcaps, filters, and other things we can do to use more of the features. Examples and pointers to PD/cheap software to help with this would be appreciated. The pertinent info: Hardware: Sun Op. Sys.: SunOS 3.4, soon to be 4.1; basically BSD 4.[23] Printer: Epson DFX-5000; but its pretty much like any other Epson, so *any* stuff for Epsons is appreciated. Software: just the standard Berkeley lpr daemon & friends. Please reply by e-mail; I'll summarize if there's interest. Thanks in advance...
