As long as I'm talking about gadgets like browning grilles, does anyone want to share his/her experiences with microwave popcorn poppers, coffee makers, etc? I thought of buying a popcorn popper until I saw the price (higher than a conventional or hot-air popper).

#R:ihuxm:-13300:uicsl:3800002:000:718 uicsl!twt Dec 17 16:11:00 1982 I just recently purchased a "Popcorn Popper/Vegetable Steamer" made by Anchor Hocking (around $10, I believe) and have come to treasure it. It took me a couple of tries to get the time setting right for popping popcorn, but it pops corn better than my hot air unit. The other nice feature this one has is a small tray you can place in it for steaming vegies. You put a small amount of water into the bottom section, place the tray with the vegies on top, and put the lid on. If memory serves, it usually takes somewhere around 3-5 min. to steam fresh vegies. I haven't seen any other poppers with this dual feature, although I did see one with lights in the base that flashed while you had the microwave on.

How about a microwave newsgroup? (net.cooks.micro) Then all of us poor graduate students would not have to wade through those microwave headers! - gary cottrell (seismo!rochester!gary) P.S. I am willing to take a poll: mail replies to me
