Sorry if this already appeared, news did something funny. I would like to find out if anybody brews beer, and if so, do they have any special recipes and/or suggestions. I have been doing it for some time now, but haven't been very imaginative. Thanks Marc Sabransky duke!dvamc!ms

response to Marc Sabransky (duke!dvamc!ms) request-- The following brew is imaginative and yields a full-bodied ale: Goat Scrotum Ale Ingredients for 13 gallons: Boil in 2 gallons water for 1 hour: 7-1/2 lbs D.C.L. plain dark malt extract (syrup) 4-1/2 lbs John Bull plain dark malt extract (syrup) 2 lbs crystal malt 1/4 lb roasted barley 1/2 lb black patent 2-3 inches brewing licorice 3-1/2 oz boiling hop pellets 1/2 lb brown sugar 3/4 cup blackstrap molasses 4 teaspoons gypsum 2 teaspoons salt During final 5 minutes of boiling add 3 packages (1-1/2 oz) Hallertauer hops. Sparge. Add to primary: enough water for 13 gallons; 5 lbs corn sugar; ale yeast. O.G.: 1.048; Rack at 1.018; Terminal gravity: not recorded. Bottle when fermentation is complete.
