So that one doesn't reinvent the wheel. Has anyone written something like this? Specifically, the idea is to sanely manage student accounts on multiple machines so that they get their account set up on all the machines with consistent uid's etc. The multiple machines would not necessarily all be of the same type. One is 4.2 and another System V and another 4.3. 1) a program to add new user into systems ex % nadduser username passwd userid groupname "list of machines" 2) a program to change userid in the systems ex % chuid username newID "list of machine" 3) a program to change group number ex % chgroup groupname newgroupid ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Isaac Balbin, Department of Computer Science, ACSNET: isaac@goanna.oz Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, JANET: isaac%goanna.oz.au@uk.ac.ukc GPO BOX 2476 V, ARPA: isaac%goanna.oz.au@uunet.uu.net Melbourne, 3001, CSNET: isaac%goanna.oz.au@australia AUSTRALIA UUCP: ...!uunet!goanna.oz.au!isaac Phone: +61 3 660 2803 BITNET: isaac%goanna.oz.au@relay.cs.net Fax : +61 3 663 2764 EARN: isaac%goanna.oz.au@uk.ac.rl.earn
