I am writing a CURSES based application with several windows. One of the windows is many lines where the user will input text. I am interested in invoking an VI/EMACS editor within the window boundaries so the user can use their favorite editor. Tools exist in my application that support the KSH command line parsing control codes but cannot easily be enhanced to support multiple lines. Has anyone modified VI/EMACS to work within a curses window? The editor modifications would require a start(x,y) and stop(x,y), and mods to some/alot of the screen drawing functions to eliminate interference with curses windows already on the screen in other locations.
