Does anyone know of a system for recognising hand-written
numerals? We're just starting on a project which involves a product by
a company (unknown except for the fact that I used to work for their
one-time parent company - which is not a recommendation, believe me)
which claims to do just this. We were just interested in doing a quick
scan of the other products availible which do the same thing.
What we're interested in is *real-time* analysis - using a
bit-pad with a pen on it, and tracking the user's handwriting as it
goes along. We 're only interested in numbers - so anything more is
interesting, but not compulsory - and there will be heuristics to sort
out the *obviously* silly figures, so 100% accuracy isn't *too* critical.

The *Important* things are that the users are a)
Non-specialist, b) regularly changing, and c) on shifts, so even
individual handwriting could be variable, and any sort of "burn-in"
period is a no-no.

Mail to me, and I'll summarise as need be. Please do *not*
reply directly, as this message is being posted for me.

				Thanx in advance,
