[net.cooks] What is a Mouli? Results:

stuart (02/02/83)

Herewith the results of the Mouli poll of last month:

There were 11 respondents, 2 of whom expressed skepticism that a manual
device could work as a food processor. The other 9 had some specific
comments about the device itself.

The Mouli is a hand-turned grater with 3 interchangeable disks. Of the 3
cutting disks, there are fine and medium graters and a slicer. Apparently
some Mouli's are marketed with only 1 disk.

Contrary to the ad I saw, it is not to be considered a food processor.
Although not unanimous, the general concensus is that the device is
well built and works very well at grating cheese and nuts and similar things.

The Mouli sells for $10-$15. Owners would recommend paying about $5-$10
for one. It is manufactured and/or marketed by Gemco, probably contrary
to my previous belief that it is made by Moulinex.
