I got this from mephdbo%prism@gatech.edu (d. majumder). >Try the gi2ras file or viewgif at the surya.waterloo.edu (129.97.129.72) >under pub/sources/ They also have tiff2ras, etc. Hope this helps you fellow RasterFans. I am still waiting to hear something about converting from color raster to color GIF. (I have one possibility now and will post it if it turns out). I am also waiting to hear from someone who has hacked sunview to take color rasters as a background. My fellow worker is looking into hacking it himself now. I will post any good responses. The gif2ras program seems to have a "barber pole" effect on some gif images. One that comes to mind is of balloons. The only other gif conversion routine I have seen GIFTORLE doesn't do this (unfortuneately a RLETORAST routine doesn't seem to exist). FYI. -- jim "Work is the Curse of the Drinking Class"

The "barber pole" effect was due to an alignment problem. The patch to fix it is in the incoming box at surya (where gif2ras lives), I don't know what will come of it. -Mike -- nolan@hiips.lpl.arizona.edu; ...!noao!solpl!hiips
