A little while ago, I asked for information about tools to split and sort mailboxes. Because there was a fair amount of interest expressed, I am posting a summary of what I found. Quite a number of people recommended their favorite "mail user agent", including MUSH, which just appeared on comp.sources.unix, ELM, and MH. That it a bit of overkill for my present purposes. Several people offered to send me their own "home grown" utility, which usually (from the brief descriptions they gave) split only by the sender. Thanks to those people. I managed to find (thanks to another pointer) a program called slice, which can be found in volume 13 of the comp.sources.unix archives. This program looks like it has the flexibility I desire, most especially it looks like I can sort by date/time fairly easily with it. Slice seems to be quite general and pretty sophisticated - it will work on far more than just mailboxes. Thanks to all who replied. -- David Bernholdt bernhold@qtp.ufl.edu Quantum Theory Project bernhold@ufpine.bitnet University of Florida Gainesville, FL 32611 904/392 6365
