[comp.sources.wanted] an intelligent cd

ART100@PSUVM.BITNET (Andy Tefft) (03/27/89)

Ever since I started using Unix a couple of months ago, I've wanted a
'smart' cd. For example, let's say I have the following directory:

/usr/a1t/src/X11/xgif/

and I want to cd to it, but instead accidentally type

cd /usr/a1t/src/X11/xgfi

What I would like, instead of the normal 'not found' is something
that would change me to X11 - and tell me so - so I don't have
to type the whole thing again. I know I can solve this by changing
one directory at a time, and using command history to redo it, but
still....

Anyone seen a program to do this? Or is there some standard way?
(if so, please feel free to move the discussion elsewhere, but
PLEASE reply by email so I know).

be a better idea to reply there, but we get no news there)
