This is my recipe for Rice Pilaf.  Everybody that tasted it liked it.

			Ingredients

		1 cup uncooked rice
		1 green chilli pepper (hot)
		2 cloves of garlic
		1 clove
		1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder or a piece of cinnamon stick
		1 cardamom pod
		fresh corriander
		2 tablespoons of grated cocunut (unsweetened)
		a small piece of fresh ginger (the size of a clove of garlic)
		
		A large onion cut into thin strips
		A large potato cut into 1/2" cubes
		1/2 cup of peas
		4 tablespoons of butter
		2 teaspoons of salt

Cook rice. In a 4qt. saucepan put 3 tablespoons of oil and heat.  Add onion
and saute.  Blend all the spices together with a little bit of water.
Pour the spice mixture over the onions and let it cook for a couple of
minutes.  Add potatoes and peas.  Cover and let it cook until the vegetables
are done.  Add salt and the rice and mix.  Add the butter, mix well and
take it off the stove.  Everything is done at medium heat.  You can add
mixed vegetables instead of peas.  You can also add pieces of chicken,
beef or shrimp (I never did this because I am a vegetarian).
