Does anyone have access to a public-domain tar program for the IBM-PC? (I have the source for a UNIX tar, but it will be a minor pain to port that to DOS.) Respond to me and I will post a summary to the net if there is enough intrest. David W. Barts, Ph. 509-376-1718 (FTS 444-1718), dxxb@beta.lanl.GOV

Why not use pax (with the DOS diffs) posted to comp.sources.unix fairly recently ? alan -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Alan Strassberg UUCP: alan@oetl ..{leadsv,pyramid}!oetl!alan Lockheed, Santa Cruz, Ca. work (408) 425-6139 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

I have a version of gnu-tar (original version) that has been modified to run under MSDOS. It is essentially identical to the tar that comes with SCO Xenix and supports Xenix multi-volume files. Unlike dos-pax, it works with either DOS or **IX floppies under either system. The program is known to run properly under SCO Xenix, Sun Unix, and MSDOS 3.3. If you want a copy, send mail to the address in the signature below (not the default news reply address) AND give me your address in ! format relative to ucbvax. If you want sources, say so. Unless otherwise requested I ship Zoo archives processed by uuencode. I can also ftp to you if you provide anonymous login and a writable directory. PS: I lost four pending requests with my last disk disaster. If you have requested but not received, try again. Earl H.
