[comp.sources.wanted] download messages from non-unix system, parse and mail to users

bbh@whizz.uucp (Bud Hovell) (05/15/89)

We have a need for a program that will dial out to our answering service
(which is running a foreign os and a 300bps modem), read whatever is there
into a local file, then parse that out by addressee and mail the associated
messages to the addresses, who may be on other machines linked up by uucp.
Would prefer that the kickoff be accomplished by an entry in the HDB uucp
'Poll' file, if such an approach is tenable, but a crontab implementation
of polling would be ok.

Has anyone already done something like this? We are running SVR2 (ver 3.51a)
on an AT&T 3B1. Local knowledge of 'C' is between nil and none. (Ignorance
is *not* bliss!). However, we could find someone in our area to contract
making needed changes, were the basic program provided to us.

Thanks for any assistance you may be able to offer,

                                 Bud Hovell
