[net.cooks] Oregon has heavy cream

hutch (03/11/83)

If anyone is really suicidal enough to do this,

REAL heavy cream can be gotten here in Oregon in the Portland area.

There is a dairy in Hillsboro that will happily sell you their >20%
butterfat heavy cream. This is made by the same process that the
European heavy cream is made. I heard about this on KKSN from Matt
Kramer, who described this substance in a voice which sounded as if
he had just eaten a half pint of the stuff and was suffering from
flash-hardening of the arteries.

Anyway, the stuff is of course to be found at Strohecher's General
Store, the ultra-posh "grocery down the street" in the Heights.

Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the dairy, but if you call
KKSN they will be happy to tell you.

(as an aside for those who aren't fortunate enough to live around
here, KKSN is an AM classical station which evolved indirectly from
a failed new-wave station, and they take requests. The Matt Kramer
pieces come up every morning and afternoon, and he tells his victims
er, audience, all about some neat new recipe, where to find the best
wine books, and so on ad inflatium)
