[net.music] Is country taboo?

bgb (11/23/82)

I don't know if there is a more appropriate newsgroup for
this but what I'd like to know is where the Country western
afficionados are. Elvis is good as are many of the bands
mentioned but I have a soft spot in my heart for the simpler
sounding C&W music. If I can sing along with it I'm happy.
(And if you ever see some fool driving along singing at
the top of his lungs with his radio then you've probably
seen me.) Any other supporters of C&W music?

I completely agree that folk and country music, especially the
non-overproduced stuff that comes out of other places than (g)Nashville,
is unjustly ignored.

Long Live Norman Blake!

Q) Why don't people like "folk" music?

A) Because their friends don't, and they're afraid to admit
that they like music that is pleasant to listen to, is intended to entertain,
and encourages the more "peaceful" emotions.
