Someone at the Baltimore USENIX in the USENET Software BOF mentioned that they had some patches to good ole "rn" to allow a "vn" type interface for selecting articles. Does anyone have something like that? ftp'able? uucp'able? I want a more *visual* interface to rn. Is Larry Wall going to come out with a newer rn? I've heard rumors for a long while ... Now that C News is out, why not another rn version!! -Lenny -- Lenny Tropiano ICUS Software Systems [w] +1 (516) 589-7930 lenny@icus.islp.ny.us Telex; 154232428 ICUS [h] +1 (516) 968-8576 {ames, talcott, decuac, hombre, pacbell, sbcs}!icus!lenny attmail!icus!lenny ICUS Software Systems -- PO Box 1; Islip Terrace, NY 11752

I hacked up rn so that it had a subject mode that would show you the
list of subjects so you could kill them before you read them. I used
this for over six months. It still has a couple of bugs (not fatal)
that I haven't worked out because I've gone to nn. I strongly suggest
moving to nn - Graphical interface, minimum keystrokes, does all the
cool things rn did.
My hack of rn basically adds a few state variables... rn may be fast,
but IMHO, it is very poor C code. I had a hard time hacking it.
My changes are fairly straightforward, and if anyone wants them, I
can either mail them the diffs from rn-patchlevel40 or I can make
the entire source code available via ftp. Let me know.
