Gram Parsons used to put out some great country and country/rock records in the late 60's and early 70's before he died in '73. Look for solo albums by him, or "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" when he was heading the Byrds, or the early Flying Burrito Bros. albums. If you go for real crying in your beer music - George Jones and Conway Twitty are hard to beat. Merle Haggard has probably one of the tightest back- up bands in the business, "Big City" is a great album. If you like to rock a little more, Jerry Jeff Walker fits that bill to a tee. Look for the album with him sitting on a red, white, and blue piano. I think it's just titled "Jerry Jeff". "It's a good night for singin'" is probably his best album. You have to like gravelly voiced singers to like him though. Billy Joe Shavers has some nice country albums out also. A really good one of his is "City Boy"(I think). Alvin Crow and the Pleasant Valley Boys put out some real nice country and country/swing music. I suppose I'll catch some flack about posting these on net.music, but I wanted to make sure the people who posted some interest in C & W saw this first. Anybody who's not probably won't be reading this anyway. There is good music out there in all branches. It's good to see all types appear on the net. there's room for everybody.
