The three Chicago concerts by the _L_a_u_d_a_t_e _D_o_m_i_n_u_m _C_h_o_r_u_s will all be given
this season at Church of Our Saviour, 530 West Fullerton Parkway.
MESSIAH, George Frederick Handel
For Christmas -- Handel's _M_e_s_s_i_a_h, performed in the style familiar to Handel,
but rarely heard today. This music, an integral part of Christmas for many,
has never been offered to Chicago in its true baroque form. At Church of Our
Saviour, on Tuesday evening, 21 December, 8 o'clock, _C_o_n_c_e_n_t_u_s _M_u_s_i_c_u_s
_C_h_i_c_a_g_o, the city's only orchestra performing exclusively on authentic in-
struments, will accompany the _L_a_u_d_a_t_e _D_o_m_i_n_u_m _C_h_o_r_u_s in this premier perfor-
mance of a genuinely baroque _M_e_s_s_i_a_h.
THE PASSION ACCORDING TO ST. MARK, Johann Sebastian Bach
The second concert -- at a date to be announced -- is the United States prem-
iere of Bach's _S_t. _M_a_r_k'_s _P_a_s_s_i_o_n. This piece was reconstructed from frag-
ments by Gustav Adolph Theil of Cologne, Germany. It is by his special per-
mission that _L_a_u_d_a_t_e _D_o_m_i_n_u_m is able to perform it. A stunning work, the
music narrates the Passion of Christ according to St. Mark. A lost master-
piece of J. S. Bach, retrieved from history, and presented to you.
MASS IN C MINOR, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
_L_a_u_d_a_t_e _D_o_m_i_n_u_m's concluding performance -- at a date to be announced -- is
Mozart's _M_a_s_s _i_n _C _M_i_n_o_r. The beauty and wonder of Mozart never ceases to
amaze the listener. With each new performance of one of his works, we are
struck anew with the immensity of his gift. The _L_a_u_d_a_t_e _D_o_m_i_n_u_m _C_h_o_r_u_s has
developed a special closeness to the works of Mozart. Past performances in-
clude the _R_e_q_u_i_e_m and _V_e_s_p_e_r_a_e _S_o_l_e_n_n_e_s _d_e _C_o_n_f_e_s_s_o_r_e.
