Even if they know enough to look in /etc/printcap, beginning users don't have any idea what to do when they see things like: f0ct|F0CT|wxyz-0|WXYZ-0|\ Form 0 (tractor feed, 14-7/8x8-1/2 striped paper, 8lpi):\ :lp=:rm=xxx.yyy.zzz:\ :rp=f-0:\ :sd=/usr/spool/f-0: I'd like a program that reads through /etc/printcap and makes something like: lpr OPTION DESCRIPTION -Pf0ct Form 0 (tractor feed, 14-7/8x8-1/2 striped paper, 8lpi) -PF0CT ditto -Pwxyz-0 ditto -PWXYZ-0 ditto -Pf1ct Form 1 (tractor feed, 14 7/8x11 white paper, 6lpi): and so on. This seems too obvious. Should I RTFM or can someone send me one like this? We're on a Gould NP-1 running UTX/32 (4.3BSD-like). Thanks a lot. --Jerry Peek; Syracuse University Academic Computing Services; Syracuse, NY jdpeek@rodan.acs.syr.edu///JDPEEK@SUVM.BITNET///GEnie: J.PEEK1 +1 315 443-3995
