We are looking for some volunteers who would help us in writing a computer simulation/game that models some realities faced by at least half of the human population. This simulation would help people simulate three years of life in a village in a third world country. The rules and the environment are very similar to the game 'risk', but unlike 'risk', the simulation is based upon true realities being faced by a large percentage of the population today. The simulation would be used for teaching social sciences, current events and the need for global interdependence by inviting people to be in someone elses "shoe" and see what kind of possibilities exist. If you are interested in voluteering some time to work on this project or if you are just interested in getting a paper version of this simulation you can either contact me or the co-directors of Our Developing World directly. You can develop the simulation on any machine but we would prefer if it is on an IBM PC compatible or a Mac. We will sell this program at cost or at a little over cost in which case the excess money would go to the working of this non-profit organization. The decision would be based on the developer's discretion. Thank you, Samir Mathur.
