Does anyone know of (or have) a replacement for tset (preferably one that's an improvement)? That's the BSD program which prompts you for a terminal type, usually used in login scripts. From the BUGS section: The tset command is one of the first commands a user must master when getting started on a UNIX system. Unfor- tunately, it is one of the most complex, largely because of the extra effort the user must go through to get the environment of the login shell set. Something needs to be done to make all this simpler, either the login program should do this stuff, or a default shell alias should be made, or a way to set the environment of the parent should exist. Right. I was wondering if anyone had tackled this problem before I try something on my own. It's a design problem much more than a programming problem, what does a user really want...what's a mother to do? -- -Barry Shein Software Tool & Die, Purveyors to the Trade | bzs@world.std.com 1330 Beacon St, Brookline, MA 02146, (617) 739-0202 | {xylogics, uunet}world!bzs
