I saw an article in one of the government computing trades that described a GIS system named GRASS (Geographical Resource Analysis System Software ??) which was developed by the US Army. The article indicated that this software had recently been ported to UNIX and had been placed in the public domain. The software is coded in C and the sources for the system and all of the add-on utilities comprise about 5M of code. Does anyone know how to order or otherwise acquire such software? Has anyone used it and if so, what do you think? Please follow up via mail and I will post a summary.
