I've been assigned the task of finding out just how fast the network
performance of our new boxes are and I need some software to help me do
this.
I'm looking for something that will let me blast out lots of packets of
various sizes. Being able to send packets via different protocols would
also be nice as we need to get a handle on TCP as well as UDP performance.
Something that would also let me send ill-formed packets to see that we
don't choke on such critters would also be nice. Obviously, I need source
code. Our box is a mix of System V & BSD so I'm prepared to do some
porting. I just didn't want to have to reprogram the wheel.
Does anyone out there in net.land have or know of any benchmarking programs
that will help me get these numbers? Can you send me email telling me about
them? I thought you could. :-)
