[comp.sources.wanted] Wanted: Blackjack practice program

dgr@hpfcso.HP.COM (Dave Roberts) (12/08/89)

Does anybody out there have a good version of Blackjack that runs under UNIX
and uses X11? I've been looking for one, but I can't seem to find it.
I'm trying to learn how to count cards, and I really need the practice time.
The problem is that dealing to yourself really sucks. It's hard to practice
counting when you're worried about what the dealer has to do. It's also
a pain to use real cards. You can get in a lot more hands electronically :-).
I've tried using some text versions that I've found around, but again, it's
hard to count when all you see is a sea of text and something that say's "K"
when a king comes up. I've thought about modifying one of those versions
and just add graphics support, but I thought I'd see if anyone else had
done it first. I'd like something that has all the major options, especially
selection for various numbers of decks and changable restrictions on how
doubling and splitting are handled (such as doubling after splits and
resplitting). I know somebody's written this, it's just a matter of finding
them. Thanks,

Dave Roberts
