[net.cooks] pizza hint

katz@beesvax.UUCP (08/22/83)

for a really good home made pizza, buy a 'pizza stone', which is a
sort-of clay platter that (dont quote me on this) super heats in the
oven so the pizza comes out with a hard crust on the bottom just like
the real thing. if you get the stone ($15 or so) you will also need
a wooden or metal paddle to remove it from the oven. before he got
these items, my beau's pizza was a little limp, and we would usually
end up eating it with fork and knife. how tacky! the stone and paddle
can be used for other recipes, too. if you cant find them in your area,
look in the yellow pages for restaurant supply stores. good luck!

The actual purpose to the stone is to allow moisture to be drawn from
the bottom of the crust. You can also use the stone to make nice
crusty bread.
