[comp.sources.wanted] MS-DOS streaming tape device driver

lbr@holos0.uucp (Len Reed) (02/07/90)

I'm looking for an MS-DOS driver that will allow me to do I/O to a
streaming tape in raw mode. Specifically, I want to be able to
read and write to the "raw device" a la Unix under DOS. This would
allow me to create cpio and tar tapes on an NCR Tower and read them
under DOS, and vice versa.

Both the NCR PCs and the NCR Tower use QIC 24 large streaming tapes, but
the PC software (Colorado memory systems) builds a complicated directory
structure on top of the low-level format. The PC software I have
does not use a device driver; the .exe file talks directly to the tape.

The PC tape drive uses a Wangtech controller.

I will accept source or object, free or otherwise.
