[comp.sources.wanted] Pointers to Copyright process

A while back there was some discussion about "Copyright"ing code. A friend 
of mine is trying to put a shareware package out, but wants to do it right!

I would appriciate any pointers to an archiver which may still have this
info or if someone could email me the process.

Is there a special agency he should call?
