Hi out there! Can anyone of you folks who read this supply me with a good algorithm for playing the game of Othello (also known as Reversi). I'm trying to make my Othello program a bit smarter than it is now. It's written in errr... ahum.... ehhhh.... BASIC (shame on me!), but if anyone has a smart program in whatsoever language, can you please mail it to me? I'm sure I can figure out how the program works for most languages (BASIC is not the only language *I* know, but it indeed is the only one that my (prehistoric) home computer knows). At my former employer, there was an Intel ICE station on which Othello ran, and it was STRONG!! (My score against it: about 50%). Unfortunately, they dumped the ICE. But I'm not only in for this program, *any* help would be appreciated. Please EMAIL your replies to me, DO NOT POSTE THEM ON THE NET, since the machine I'm working on does not receive comp.sources.wanted (I sure hope that this message comes out to the net). Send your replies to lexw@idca.tds.philips.nl <---- this one preferred! or to ....!hp4nl!philapd!lexw Thanks in advance. ________________ / / ___ _____/ Lex Wassenberg, Philips TDS / / /__ \/ ___/ Apeldoorn, The Netherlands / / ___/ /__ lexw@idca.tds.philips.nl / / /____/\___/ / /____________/ It's said that only 10 people on the whole world understood /_______________/ Einstein.
