[comp.sources.wanted] Public domain version of tar

keith@sdscal.UUCP (Keith Jones) (03/01/90)

I'm looking for a PD version of tar, then Un*x program. We would like it
so that we can modify it to back up directories and possibly special files.
This is important in that tar doesn't back up empty directories like those
in /usr/spool/lp/request. Cpio isn't a solution because we have 38 meg
database files that have links.

Thanx in advance to all info advanced.

Keith

Oh yes, we're running System V here, if that's any help.

Get GNU tar.
